BLUE!! A most perfect soothing room!
Blue is an incredibly beautiful color area. Use it to create an oasis of serenity in your home.
This room works really well because of the combination of COOL [blue] & WARM [woodtones]. They balance each other to create a harmonious environment.
  • The subject matter of the paintings is interesting to me. They are landscapes which add to the calm.
  • My only caution is to not overuse this color... a little goes a long way.​
  • White cabinetry, a white lamp base and natural sofa provide needed neutrals & texture to this space!

Many times in my career I have met people that were either fearful of adding color or not able to because they lived in an apartment and needed to live with beige.
An excellent option is to create a massive painting in the color you love. Even if the canvas is painted with ONE solid color, it will work to bring that space to life!
  • The neutral walls, sofa and field of the carpet bring a lovely and quiet calm to this space.
  • The patterned accent pillows add that spice and character we all want in our homes.
  • Make sure to repeat your accent in a strong element, such as the chair in the foreground. Perfection!
                                                                   Books!! I will never be bored with my precious books.
​This is a little section of my collection. When my husband & I first moved into our home, this area contained a built-in dining cabinet. At the first opportunity, we redesigned this space, painted the inset black and added shelves. [Note: dark colors make your books & accents stand out.]
  • There are two lights over the top glass shelves that let the light shine down to the third shelf.
  • I have poetry, travel, gardening, photography and unusual books in their sections.
  • The Art books are my most precious... I have them arranged in spectral order. I know them so well that it is easy for me to find exactly the book I am searching for at any given time. I love that it is organized color and they all live so peacefully together!

  • The desk is comprised of two, natural wood-toned support horses. They are super easy to find at your local building supply store. The top is a simple hollow core door that has also been painted white. Use a finish with a higher gloss for ease of cleaning.
  • Adding a hammock in white rope and almond wood tones creates the perfect place to dream about your next project or to take a sweet summer nap.
  • A woven sisal carpet on a light wood floor keeps the space airy and open. The weaving adds another textural element to this space.
  • Gently colored accessories in pastel tones, stark white, soft gold and a sprinkling of greenery all work together to deliver an office that you deserve.
​This easy breezy porch has so many great ideas that we could all incorporate into our homes.
  • Let's begin at the ceiling. Adding a light fixture allows us to not only add light, but style and character too.
  • I love the use of white on the sofa and dining set. This allows you to make many different statements with colors that you can change from the beginning to the end of summer. Think pillows & accessories.
  • The mirror adds a bit of whimsy and reflectivity to this area. You could use a glue gun to add many natural elements and paint them white or with all your favorite summertime colors.
  • Look at the topiary! By placing it on top of a little table it elevates it off the floor giving it a nice height.
  • This porch has lovely windows; however, if you don't have this window style, consider shopping at your local vintage, salvage or antique store. You may uncover a window that you could paint and hang, creating your own architecture.
  • Candles on the floor add another level of light for those sweet moments after sunset.
  • The sisal area carpet frames out the space. It provides texture and the feeling you are bringing the indoors outside!
When I saw the English Teapot [above] years ago, I was smitten. It is so beautiful, the colors endlessly inspire me. I have decided to create a color scheme for my home around this china teapot. The color chips that surround the base will be incorporated in art and accessories. I am so excited! I bought the two little French jars for my kitchen last year. I leave them on the counter and whenever I see them I get excited about beginning this project! I love this kitchen [not mine]... it lives in my dreams. Black & White base design with a spectacular view of the green outdoors!!! I simply know I would be a great cook if I could work in this kitchen!!
