Barbara's Custom Pet Illustrations
'Gabby' - This little girl wants to know what is going on. She is a communicator. We love her to the moon and beyond state her Mom & Dad. She is curious and affectionate and I totally loved trying to capture her personality!
'Lily' - This is sweet Lily... a totally black little kitty... and very difficult to capture. Therefore, I surrounded her with a garden of flowers... Lily of the Valley, an Oriental Lily and a Calla Lily. She is a most adorable little creature ever!
'Treasured German Shephard' - This is my latest portrait of a German Shephard. It is done with tiny bits of paper. I incorporated a ring of botanical treasures around his neck. A Rose for gratitude & admiration and a Cornflower to illustrate the flower of Germany. The little charm illustrates a sweet little sheep!
Meet 'Petunia' - This amazing creature has such an incredible demeanor. She is total sweetness. The Petunia flowers around her neck are in homage to her name; the little Lady Bug has special meaning too. Even the violet ribbon is the favorite color of the gift-giver who commissioned this portrait. This was a most surprising & welcome Birthday Gift!!
'Isaboo' - This portrait is of Rachael Ray's beloved pet, Isaboo. So much tragedy has happened to Rachael in the last few years... losing her home & her Isaboo. I was delighted to draw this beautiful creature. Recently, she spoke about my illustration on her show. I have a little picture that my friend captured for me... you can see the portrait on her table. Portraits are such a magical way to keep our dear loved ones close to our hearts... both people & pets.

'Pei Pug' - This illustration of an adorable little Pug has been designed to help convey a bit of history regarding this special breed of dogs. I'll be including more insight soon along with information about how you might be able to purchase greeting cards of this sweet Pug, along with other breeds. All proceeds will be given to our local Berea Animal Rescue. So much more to come!!!
'Reagan' - This portrait was created for Ryan & Tony... the parents of Reagan. They rescued and adopted her when she was just six weeks old... today she is a healthy nine year old that they adore. In this painting I also incorporated elements that were important to them. Impressionist Art. A reference to a famous glass artist, Chihuly. All the components of the final picture work together to tell a story.
'Cubbie' - This portrait was done for my sister, Deb. This was a very intricate project. I not only created the drawing of Cubbie, but there was the very detailed work of the frame, the vase of flowers and the wallpaper. All the elements work together to build this story of their family and their favorite subjects... including Cubbie!!
'Missa' - This fabulous kitty lives not far from my Studio in the home of a dear friend. Missa is the most beautiful creature and has amazing fur... it is comprised of so many neutral colors. It was a joy to draw her and try to capture all of her details and the serious look of her eyes. She is captivating!
'Benjamin & Dolly' - Years ago my sister & I made fabric dolls, this is one of them being hugged by this Basset Hound. There is something so protective of this breed and the fact that he is so relaxed as he rests on little "Dolly". The soft colors of blue and rose work so well with the neutral shades of Benjamin. They are a sweet study in relaxation.
This portrait is of 'Loki' - A beautiful little three year old who was rescued as a puppy, and adopted by his Pet Parent, Henry. Loki's name comes from Norse Mythology and was the God of mischievous activity. From the look in his eyes you can tell he is ready for his next adventure! I placed him on a sculpture of classic New York City Architectural elements to highlight the contrast of new puppy and ancient sculpture. |
Meet 'Jack' - A fabulous 11 year old Harrier Hound who is cheerful, sweet & friendly. He was adopted into a new home where he has found lots of love from Mom, the kids & especially from his 'Dad'! I love his eyes and all the colors they portray. Looks like Jack was having fun with one of the roses!
'Harper Protecting Carson' - These two are the best of buds... they enjoy doing all sorts of things together. This picture of Harper resting on Carson as he sleeps is simply an exquisite snapshot of their relationship... total trust.
'Juju' - This is a portrait I completed of a precious little Bengal kitty. Very much detailed with a fantasy theme of a bit of garden or jungle motif. The vines, shading, flowers and leaves all add to the mystery surrounding this little one.
'Zachary, Captivated' - I will never get over the look on my little Zachary's face... it is this look both bewilderment and determination. He is a fierce little guy and I treasure all the moments we share together. Of course we have never shared one with a mouse... but if we did... he would not be still, that is for sure. Of course neither would I.
'Two Peas In A Pod' - Their names are 'Orangie' & 'Blackie'. My Client submitted the photograph, on the right, in the hopes I could create the perfect Birthday Gift for his girlfriend. I wanted to turn this image into more of a fantasy or storybook picture. I spoke with him after the big surprise... and, she was delighted!! Happiness Abounds!

' Zachary & Mozart' -
I love this drawing of my little Zachary. Of course I have never placed headphones on him; however, in my mind I think this is the only way to get him to listen! In a perfect world kitties would listen... right?
